How I Confirmed my Coco 3 ROM Was Dead

rom chip

As part of my long struggle to repair my beloved Radio Shack Color Computer 3, I decided to test the ROM chip out of circuit.   My initial tests on the board seemed to point to the fact that the ROM chip would not respond to any queries for data.   In this video I show how I wired up the ROM chip, and tried to detect any signs of life.

There weren’t any… so I ended up ordering a new ROM from hobbyroms.com.  They did a great job and I had a new ROM chip in my hands within a week.
